Down Syndrome Awareness Month –
Sooo – what does that really mean?
Well, it’s the month that anyone can help others understand what DS really is.
Yes, there are still many, many people that don’t really understand what Down Syndrome is.
You can help them by explaining that the differences caused by an extra chromosome in your body does not make you feel any different than anyone else.
Like everyone else, you realize you have limitations and need others to help with some things.
Since I was homeschooled, I didn’t even know I had the label of ‘disabilities’ until I was 20 years old!
I may not be able to do as much as many others, but I have some abilities that some other people don’t seem to have much of…
-like the capacity to love others without judgement,
-to take things and people as they are without reading into things
-and I wholehearted can enjoy the simple things of life.
-Best of all, I’m happy!
Every day is the best day of my life! Honest!
Another thing that you can do is take part in the Buddy Walk, a yearly fundraising event that is lots of fun!
